Games made in 2000's to 2010 were far more impactful than games released today and most games are a 6.5-7 out of 10.
Main Post:
Most games today are made to be re-skinned or just to line the pockets of stakeholders while providing minimalist work towards the game. Most games that get released are either unfinished or at best made to be a 6.5-7 (examples: any Call of Duty games, Civilization 7, Cyber Punk 2077 (before it was fixed), LOTR Smeagol game etc.). I understand Elden Ring/Baldurs Gate 3 are exceptional but again consider the amount of games being released as good compared to before.
We all remember the classics during those years: Witcher 3 (well made game from the start), Skyrim (well made game from the start), Dark Souls (in fairness this studio has remained consistent in creating games), Halo 3, Perfect Dark, GTA 6 etc.
What makes gaming so unenjoyable is it's become less of the experience and more about microtransactions rather than actual player enjoyability. It's become a greed machine that has forever made most games that get released feel un-finished or are indeed un-finished.
Top Comment: Skyrim and Witcher 3 well made from the start? Skyrim had and still has bugs Galore and TW3 had a ton on release also
